Historic Garden
The garden at The Old Tavern grows inside a stone wall that surrounds the Tavern. Under the leadership of our Garden Team leader, Master Gardener and lifelong Unionville resident, Pat Gerred, our volunteers have spent countless hours maintaining the grounds by removing invasive and overgrown plants then identifying and rehabilitating plants to keep. Our goal is to restore the garden to an inviting gathering space and teaching garden featuring historic and native plants.
Garden Design TeamOur Garden Design Team is a collaboration between our volunteers, landscape architects, and local nursery growers. Together we are redisigning the historic garden to enhance what has been preserved within the historic garden. We intend to utilize this volunteer effort to revitalize the gardenscape so that the garden will be ready for The Old Tavern Grand Re-opening!

Gather in the GardenThe building may be closed to the public during reconstrcution, but our historic garden provides gathering space to welcome people back to The Old Tavern. In 2018, we began hosting regular Wine & Music nights on the first Friday of the month, May-October. There is nothing better than a summer evening in the garden with local wine and local music. We look forward to more nights in the garden soon!
Due to COVID-19, the Society has suspended all Tavern activities until further notice.
