Leaving our mark...
The Save The Tavern! movement began in June 2011 when we decided to raise awareness to the deteriorating condition of The Old Tavern. At that time, the Tavern had sat abandoned for 5 years. After a successful initial campaign, we incorporated as a non-profit and began the process of obtaining a 501(c)3. Initially, we didn't intend to take ownership of the Tavern. It would be 4 years before our efforts would result in acquisition of The Old Tavern.
2021 marks our 10 year anniversary of incorporation. Over the years, we have grown this organization from a grassroots effort into a respected non-profit in the historic preservation community. We have enjoyed our 10 years together, we have enjoyed sharing the Tavern with you, and we have enjoyed listening to the many memories you have shared with us. Together we are continuing to write the story of The Old Tavern.
In celebration of the past 10 years, we will plant 1000 daffodil bulbs this fall along County Line Road and St Rt 84, creating a amazing visual reminder of how much we have accomplished and our unwavering commitment to our mission. Most importantly, the 1000 Daffodil garden is an opportunity for YOU to leave your mark on The Old Tavern! Bring your memories of the Tavern and make a donation to the daffodil project in celebration of, in memory of, or in honor of your loved ones you spent time with at the Tavern. For a greater impactful contribution, chose to add a planting experience to your donation and plant your own bulbs in the historic garden at the Tavern!
